Hetmantsev answered whether Ukraine is closer to joining the EU.

Danilo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, shared his thoughts on Ukraine's approach to the European Union. According to Hetmantsev, our country has made significant progress in this direction, despite the difficulties and war.
This was stated by Danilo Hetmantsev in an interview for Novyny.LIVE.
The politician acknowledged that there were mistakes and problems, but in his opinion, Ukraine has made a significant step towards Euro-integration.
'One way or another, we have progressed very significantly in terms of Euro-integration. Mistakes were indeed made, as is the case for anyone who is doing something. And there were indeed shortcomings. This includes deregulation, which is too slow. It also includes privatization, issues of insuring military risks, and the decline in investments.
'However, mostly those negative indicators of economic development that we see now are a result of the war', explained Hetmantsev.
Additionally, he noted that while some aspects could have been handled better, it is important to consider the conditions created by the full-scale conflict.
'Could some moments have been worked out better? Undoubtedly, they could have been. I am the first who publicly pointed this out to the government, and I will continue to do so in the future. Could it have been done without mistakes and turned this place into a garden city just like that, with one or two decisions? No. And there is no need to tell people fairy tales. All people are adults, everyone understands the circumstances we are currently in and what is happening', he emphasized.
Recently, Hetmantsev also expressed his views on the necessary changes in Ukraine to gain EU membership and emphasized the importance of implementing the rule of law as a key element of Euro-integration.
Ukraine is demonstrating significant progress on its path to joining the European Union, although there are certain challenges and issues, particularly related to the military conflict. Danilo Hetmantsev believes that the country must continue to work on improving its processes and enabling the rule of law to successfully achieve its Euro-integration goals.
