Mukharsky's wife revealed what shocked her in Britain.

Using hot and cold water from two taps is a habit in Great Britain
Art historian and wife of Antin Mukharsky, Yelyzaveta Bielska, shared her impressions of water taps in Great Britain. According to her, many homes in this country still use two different tap systems - one for hot water and the other for cold. This may seem inconvenient, but this tradition has existed for a long Time.
“One of the first surprises in Great Britain is their taps. In many homes, there are still two separate ones: one for hot and another for cold water. At first, I thought it was very old plumbing. Then it became clear that this is a completely conscious decision.”
Yelyzaveta explained that hot water used to come from a tank in the attic, where there was a risk of contamination due to bacteria, making it unsafe for drinking. Meanwhile, cold water came directly from the mains. To avoid the risk of infection, separate tap systems for hot and cold water were developed.
In public places, such as restaurants or cafes, modern sanitary standards for water supply have been in place for a long time. However, in ordinary homes, existing systems may vary. These details, according to Yelyzaveta, reflect the history and specifics of the country.
The couple is currently in Great Britain, presenting their works, including a novel for adults.
