Erdogan made a loud statement about Crimea.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Crimea must be returned to Ukraine.

Erdogan made this conclusion during a video address at the Fourth Summit of the Crimea Platform Leaders, which took place in Ukraine on September 11.

The President of Turkey greeted everyone who participated in the organization of the summit, particularly the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the national leader of the Crimean Tatars, Mustafa Dzhemilev. He reminded that the summit took place on the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people.

Erdogan stated that the pain experienced by the Crimean Tatars, who were forcibly relocated from their native places, has not faded for 80 years.

The annexation of Crimea, which Turkey never recognized and protested against, has intensified this pain even more. Our support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine remains unchanged. The return of Crimea to Ukraine is a requirement of international law

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey is doing everything possible to ensure the safety and well-being of Crimean Tatars, who are the indigenous people of Crimea. He also expressed hope for the end of the war in Ukraine with a just and lasting peace.

In his concluding remarks, Erdogan honored the memory of the Crimean Tatar people who passed away on the 80th anniversary of their deportation.
