Poland's citizenship becomes more accessible: key changes in legislation for 2025.

Poland has simplified the process of obtaining citizenship for foreigners
Starting from 2025, Poland has eased the procedure for foreigners to obtain citizenship, particularly for Ukrainian citizens. According to the new legislation, the main change is the reduction of the residence period in the country from 5 to 3 years for individuals with permanent residence permits or long-term EU resident status.
'This decision opens up new opportunities for foreigners planning to connect with Poland,' the official statement from the Polish government notes. Legislative changes include clear requirements for candidates applying for citizenship.
In addition to having a stable legal income or a permanent job, applicants must possess a B1 level of Polish language proficiency and confirm it with the appropriate certificate. An important condition is the absence of criminal convictions and successful integration into Polish society, which can be demonstrated through education, work, or family ties.
To apply for citizenship, a package of documents must be provided, including a standard application form, documents confirming legal residence, proof of income, a certificate of no criminal record, and a certificate of knowledge of the Polish language.
'The new legislation meets the needs of modern society and is aimed at attracting qualified professionals who have already demonstrated their willingness to become part of the Polish community,' migration law experts emphasize.
