ISW assessed the possibility of Russia conducting a large-scale offensive this summer.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops conducted five mechanized attacks in the west of the Donetsk region on July 29 and 30. Analysts believe that such attacks are a manifestation of a predicted Russian summer offensive.
ISW notes that Russian troops are capable of conducting large-scale operations throughout the entire conflict, but they can carry out impulsive offensives when intensity decreases in one area and increases in another.
However, ISW believes that Russian troops likely lack the broader operational potential to conduct a large-scale offensive operation in the Donetsk region this summer due to constraints on material resources and personnel.
Earlier, it was assumed that Russian troops planned to capture the remaining territory of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, but after receiving military assistance from the USA, they likely revised their plans.
Recall that the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of the settlement of Pivdenne on the Toretsk direction by Russian troops, as well as the advancement of combat units near Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar.
