At the Numismatica Ars Classica (NAC) auction, approximately 15,000 ancient gold and silver coins will be sold, valued at $100 million. The coins were collected by a European resident since the 1930s and buried in his garden during World War II. The treasure lay undiscovered for over 50 years, but the collector's wife decided to dig up the coins only in the mid-1990s. She contacted NAC for inventory and appraisal. The total price of the collection is the highest in the history of sales of similar lots. NAC plans to conduct 15 auctions gradually over four years, starting from May 20.
