Massive fire in the Chernobyl zone: data on radiation background status.
Employees of the State Emergency Service successfully extinguished a fire that occurred in the Chernobyl zone area in the Kyiv region. The fire covered an area of 421 hectares. This was reported by the press service of the SES of the Kyiv region.
The fire extinguishing was carried out on the terrain where 421 hectares of open area of the Chernobyl zone were burning. For this, the SES involved 130 rescuers and 37 units of equipment, as well as seven units of equipment from the forestry.
After the fire was extinguished, radiation specialists conducted an inspection. Radiation background indicators did not change and are within the normal range.
It also became known that in the Chernobyl zone there was a fire on an area of about 20 hectares. All measures are aimed at localizing the fire, and the radiation background remains within acceptable limits. However, air smoke is possible in the Kyiv region.
In addition, peatlands are also burning in the Kyiv region. 75 firefighters and 21 units of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.
