Contract-based education will significantly increase: who can expect assistance.

Increase in the cost of contract-based education in higher education institutions
According to the deputy minister of education and science Mykhailo Vinnytskyi, the cost of contract-based education in Ukrainian higher education institutions will significantly increase in 2025. He stated that the average cost of a contract will rise from last year's 35-38 thousand hryvnias to approximately 50 thousand hryvnias per year, which corresponds to the state spending per budget student.
The increase in cost is attributed not only to inflation but also to the need to raise salaries for higher education teachers. According to Vinnytskyi, the salary of a teacher affects the number of students enrolling in higher education institutions and the cost of their education.
We often talk about the low salaries of our teachers, but we must understand that the salaries of higher education teachers are also low. And a teacher's salary directly depends on the number of students enrolling in higher education institutions and the cost of their education.
In order to alleviate the financial burden on Ukrainian families, the Ministry of Education and Science is implementing a grant support system. Now, contract students, who previously could pay for their education at the end of the year, receive a grant of 15-16 thousand hryvnias, which helps to offset the increase in the cost of education.
Therefore, although the overall cost of education will rise, actual expenses for students may remain practically at previous levels, thanks to state support.
