According to analysts at 'Opendatabot', since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 4.4 thousand new professionals have been added to the Register of Lawyers. Currently, the Register includes more than 53 thousand lawyers. However, the number of new lawyers decreases every year.
As of the end of August 2024, 53,361 lawyers were registered in the Register. During this period, the Register was replenished with 4,370 new lawyers.
But it is also worth noting that the number of new lawyers decreases every year. If 5,124 new lawyers were registered in 2020, this year it is only 1,708.
It is noted that 1,773 lawyers have temporarily suspended their activities, and eight have completely ceased them since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Overall, Ukrainian lawyers consist mainly of men - 60% of the total number. Women in this profession make up 40%.
The largest number of lawyers is registered in the Kyiv region (9,127 or 17% of the total number) and in Kyiv (5,682 or 10.6%). A significant number of lawyers are also located in Dnipropetrovsk (4,016 lawyers or 7.5%), Odessa (3,992 lawyers or 7.5%), and Donetsk (3,932 lawyers or 7.4%).
In recent years, the most new lawyer licenses were issued in Zakarpattia (+15%), Vinnytsia (+14.6%), Odessa (+14.6%), and Rivne (+13.8%) regions.
It is important to remember that the place of obtaining a license and the actual place of work of lawyers may differ.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy reported that to ensure annual GDP growth of 7% by 2030, Ukraine needs to recruit another 4.5 million workers.
