Gas Transmission System Operators of Poland and Ukraine to Double Capacity.

Agreement between the Gas Transmission System Operators of Poland and Ukraine
The gas transmission system operators of Poland and Ukraine have agreed to temporarily increase the level of guaranteed capacity towards Ukraine from 6.4 to 12.4 million m³ per day.
According to the Ministry of Energy, part of the additional capacity will be offered during the monthly auction for July 2025, which will take place on June 16.
The Role of the Polish Route for Ukraine
At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the gas transmission system operators conducted a series of technical negotiations and studies aimed at identifying potential options for ensuring additional gas transportation capabilities to Ukraine. As a result, the aforementioned agreement was reached.
'We are constantly working on diversifying supply and expanding existing routes. This is an important decision, as the Polish route is one of the most significant directions for gas imports to Ukraine,' said Ukraine's Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko.
To ensure stable capacity on a more permanent basis, Gaz-System is reconstructing the GVS 'Hermanovichi'. Earlier in May, the gas transmission system operators agreed to extend the offer of existing guaranteed capacity for the 2025/2026 gas year.
The Polish route is becoming increasingly important for Ukraine in the context of diversifying gas supplies and the stability of the energy sector. The agreement between the gas transmission system operators of Poland and Ukraine to increase capacity will contribute to strengthening the energy security of the country.
The signed agreement between the gas transmission system operators of Poland and Ukraine regarding the increase of capacity will help strengthen Ukraine's energy security and assist in diversifying gas supplies to the country. This step is crucial for the stability of the nation's energy sector.Read also
