Passport and ID card are not valid: what to do for Ukrainians.


Experts from the 'Legal Advisor for IDPs' explained to Ukrainian citizens how to act in case of the invalidity of a passport or ID card.
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 302 dated March 25, 2015, a damaged document may be recognized as invalid and is subject to withdrawal, cancellation, and destruction.
According to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine No. 456 dated June 6, 2019, a passport is considered unsuitable in the following cases:
- There is damage that prevents the identification of the owner or reading the main data.
- There are significant damages to the series and number in the perforated part of the passport.
- There are unauthorized corrections.
- There is damage that hinders the reading of information.
- There are changes in the contactless electronic data carrier.
The passport is also recognized as invalid in the event of cessation of citizenship, a statement about theft or loss, violation of the requirements during registration, non-receipt within a year, death of the owner, or expiration of the validity period.
In case the physical passport is recognized as invalid, citizens can use the electronic passport in the 'Diia' app, which has the same legal force as the paper document and is accepted by all state authorities of Ukraine.
Experts emphasize that due to excessively high utility tariffs, half of the citizens of Ukraine are forced to save on food.
After the March indexing, pension payments in Ukraine will change for retirees.
