Anniversary of the shelling of Okhmatdit - how the Russian Federation struck a hospital with children.

On July 8, 2024, Russian occupiers hit the children's hospital 'Okhmatdit' in Kyiv, resulting in the deaths of a patient and a doctor. In total, over 33 people died during the shelling that day.

The Security Service of Ukraine established that the strike was carried out by a Russian X-101 missile, and they qualified this act as a war crime. The shelling caused significant damage to the hospital: destroyed departments, blocks, and infrastructure, injuring about 300 people, including children. Two people died during the attack, and another succumbed to injuries by July 10.

Director of 'Okhmatdit' Volodymyr Zhovnir:

'There were 1200 people in the hospital, and three complex surgeries were performed. An attack on a medical institution is unacceptable and goes beyond humanity.'

Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk:

'The terrorist act will not go unanswered, and those responsible for this crime will be held accountable.'

During the investigation, fragments of the X-101 missile were found, confirming the use of this weapon in the hostile shelling. Responsibility for this attack must be properly assigned, and the individuals who committed this war crime must be held accountable.

As a result of the Russian shelling of 'Okhmatdit', people died, including those seeking help at this medical facility. The attack on civilians and medical personnel is a great tragedy that requires accountability and outrage from both community and international organizations.
