Russian missile strike: demonstration of nuclear capabilities
On November 21, Russia attacked Ukraine by launching several missiles, including an intercontinental ballistic missile. Experts believe that this action may be a showcase of their nuclear power.
According to the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian Federation conducted a combined attack using seven cruise missiles and one 'Kinzhal' ballistic missile. Six cruise missiles were destroyed, but there is currently no data on the consequences of the intercontinental missile launch.
There is information that an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Astrakhan region, but the exact type is not specified. Experts believe this was done to demonstrate Russia's nuclear strike capability.
Currently, it is unknown what target the ballistic missile had and what means it was equipped with. There are assumptions that the use of an intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine makes little practical sense due to the existence of other means within Russia's reach.
At the same Time, experts point to the possibility of equipping most Russian missiles with nuclear warheads. This leads to the assumption that a new ballistic missile could have been launched simulating nuclear warheads. It is unknown whether the USA was warned about this missile launch since announcing such actions is a mandatory step to prevent emergencies and escalate the conflict.
