Trump narrowly avoided disrupting the exchange between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump disclosed the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia
U.S. President Donald Trump prematurely revealed information about the largest exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia since the onset of the full-scale war, despite strict confidentiality requirements from the Ukrainian leadership. This was reported by the American publication Politico.
According to the publication, on May 23, Ukraine and Russia launched a large-scale operation to exchange prisoners, which aimed to free a total of 1,000 people. Kyiv kept the entire process under the strictest secrecy due to serious concerns regarding the safety of the first 270 soldiers and 120 civilians who were to be exchanged at the border with Belarus.
However, the U.S. president decided to be the first to publicly announce the start of the exchange on his social network Truth Social even before the operation actually began. A Ukrainian official who agreed to comment on the situation only on condition of anonymity explained to the publication that Trump simply wanted to be the first to report this event.
Fortunately, Trump's hasty post had no effect. But we usually do not report on ongoing events because you can never be sure with the Russians. Our guys were too close to the enemy, - commented the Ukrainian.
Risks and consequences of public disclosure
The premature public announcement raised serious concerns within the Ukrainian leadership due to the risk of disrupting the entire operation or a possible attack from Russia. The publication recalls that the Russian side has repeatedly used similar opportunities for manipulation and dissemination of disinformation in the past.
As a result of the successfully conducted operation on May 23, Ukraine was able to bring home 390 detained compatriots, including 270 servicemen and 120 civilians. We also remind that Ukraine returned another 307 defenders from Russia.
The U.S. president, by disclosing information about the exchange of prisoners, violated the confidentiality of the operation, creating risks for Ukrainian military personnel and civilians. Trump's thoughtless move could lead to serious consequences and jeopardize the safety of the participants in the exchange.
