France outlines nuance of Ukraine's NATO accession.

France is not against Ukraine's accession to NATO, but it depends on the future administration of the United States, said French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu in an interview with La Tribune.
He noted that some aspects of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Plan are interesting. "This plan shows that Ukraine is preparing for possible negotiations. Our task is to help it negotiate with a favorable balance of power... We must not forget the question: what security guarantees can we offer Ukraine?" Lecornu said according to UNIAN.
He also did not rule out the possibility of expanding the training of Ukrainian military personnel in France, beyond the 2,000 soldiers who are already undergoing training: "I'm thinking about it and working on it".
According to the French Defense Minister, even with a ceasefire, there are no guarantees that Russia will not launch a new aggression, so paths to achieving sustainable peace must be sought.
"We must always remember one question: what security guarantees can we offer Ukraine? Of course, it is NATO membership, but we are also ready to do everything possible to help Ukraine build a strong army that can deter Russia in the future," Lecornu emphasized.
