Smoke in Sumy: the authorities named the cause.

On the morning of Thursday, October 3, smoke is observed in Sumy, caused by enemy shelling from the Russian Federation. According to the Sumy Regional State Administration, enemy attacks also caused dry vegetation to catch fire. Currently, the State Emergency Service is engaged in extinguishing the fires. The Regional Military Administration's press service recommends local residents to limit their Time outside and close windows.
At the same time, in Kyiv on the morning of October 3, a high level of air pollution was recorded, caused by increased dust concentration. The probable cause of the deterioration in air quality is fires in the ecosystem of the Kyiv region and cross-border influence, in particular the entry of dust from the Caspian lowland into the Kyiv region. It is worth noting that there are dust storms and high air dustiness in the Caspian lowland, and the wind carries air from the southeast, which leads to the transfer of the smallest dust particles to Ukraine in the upper layers of the atmosphere.
