Meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, where the formation of corps in the Armed Forces of Ukraine was discussed and the report of the Commander-in-Chief on the situation at the front, particularly in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, as well as the operation in Kursk, was heard.
'We will continue to strengthen our army. We will scale up combat brigades and the proper army experience. Based on the first defined brigades, other systematic steps and modernization of the army system will be possible, there is no alternative,' emphasized the President.
International Work and Condolences on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust
During a separate meeting with diplomats, Zelensky discussed international work for February, including planned meetings and negotiations. Among the key tasks is maintaining the unity of partners and coordination in the European direction.
The President also had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Israel, expressing condolences in connection with the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust. During the conversation, they discussed the international situation and contacts with partners, including the USA.
Special attention was given by the President to the issue of suspended American humanitarian programs. At his request, officials are to prepare a report on the programs that have faced shortages. 'We can ensure part of such funding through our state finances, and part – we will discuss with Europeans and Americans,' noted Zelensky.
The head of state emphasized that priority should be given to programs concerning Ukrainian children, veterans, and the protection of infrastructure. These areas will receive necessary support first of all.
