Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced planned meetings with partners from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the United States that could lead to a ceasefire and the establishment of lasting peace. In his address on April 21, on the 1153rd day of the war, the head of state stated that Russia is the source of the conflict and it solely depends on them to give the order for a ceasefire for the Russian army.
'On Easter, there were no air alarms, there are some places where silence has formed. This is possible when Russia itself reduces the number of killings' - Zelensky said.
However, according to the president, even on Easter there were cases of assaults, strikes, and shelling from Russia, which caused casualties, including civilian victims. As of 1:00 PM, Russia had carried out nearly 3,000 shellings and strikes, using missiles, bombs, and heavy weaponry.Zelensky emphasized that Russia rejected the American proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire, as well as the proposal to extend the 'Easter silence'.
'Ukraine offers not to attack civilian infrastructure. We expect a clear response from Moscow and are ready for any negotiations' - Zelensky stated.
The president stressed that the simplest and most effective way is to stop missile attacks and drones, which will ensure the preservation of civilian infrastructure.Ukrainian representatives at the meetings in Paris and London will set the task of achieving an unconditional ceasefire.
'Peace comes in silence. And only when there is real silence and trust in negotiations can serious issues be resolved' - Zelensky concluded.
