The situation at the southern front has escalated, the Armed Forces of Ukraine named the reasons.

At the southern front, the Russian occupying army is increasing its activity, escalating the number of attacks and assaults on Ukrainian positions in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
According to Voloshyn, the enemy is escalating the situation by carrying out attacks, shelling, missile strikes, and using drones.
Voloshyn points out that the situation is becoming more dangerous, and the Russian occupiers are trying to gain control over the southern regions of Ukraine, particularly Zaporizhzhia and the Kherson region. He also notes that changing weather conditions complicate the defense of Ukrainian forces.
Voloshyn emphasizes that the occupiers are rushing with assaults to gain an advantage before the appearance of spring foliage.
Recently, the Russian army regained control over the district center of the Kursk region - the city of Sudzha.
Complicated battles are also taking place in the north of Sumy, where Russian troops are using small infantry units and ATVs to break through Ukrainian positions.
In Sumy region, mandatory evacuation has been announced for eight settlements, forcing 543 people to leave their homes.
