A resident of Kurakhove managed to escape from Russian captivity with a broken leg.

A Ukrainian from Kurakhove, Oleg, recounted his imprisonment by the Russians during the occupation of the city. He managed to escape from captivity and broke his leg, but he is trying to return and rebuild the city. This was reported by Suspilne Donbas.
In the summer, Kurakhove was constantly shelled by Russian troops, so Oleg had to hide in the basement of his house. In the fall, communication and electricity disappeared in the city. Humanitarian aid was not delivered either. Despite this, he refused to leave the city as he was watching over his property. But when Russian troops entered Kurakhove, he found himself in captivity with his neighbor.
“We were passing an intersection when we heard: 'Stop'. We stopped. We approached there, the doors opened: 'Come in'. We went in there. And the first phrase was: 'Welcome to the Russian world',” Oleg said.
After two weeks in captivity, Oleg decided to escape. He broke his leg jumping out of the window of a house. Using a mop as a crutch, he made it to the Ukrainian troops. However, he was pursued by Russians who opened fire on him and another civilian who continued to run away. As a result, they caught a bullet.
Later, Oleg reached a hospital where he is receiving treatment; he wishes to return and restore Kurakhove.
